Louise & Lee’s wedding – As You Like It wedding photography

As You Like It wedding photography

I always enjoy shooting As You Like It wedding photography and this one was extra special as Louise and Lee had decked the place out in an Alice in Wonderland theme.  They had lovingly spent the last year collecting items for the big day and it really added an extra dimension to what is already a cool and quirky venue, and made their wedding one to really remember!  The day started with Louise and her bridesmaids getting ready at Hotel Du Vin and one of my favourite bridal prep rooms, the Mouton Rothschild suite with its huge window overlooking the River Tyne.  It was a very relaxed morning but just before we left for the ceremony the heavens open and a torrential rain storm hit.  Luckily Louise who arrived in a black cab managed to not get wet thanks in part to her bridesmaids doing a good job of shielding her with an umbrella they borrowed from Hotel Du Vin.

Having shot As You Like It wedding photography a few times now I’m very much in tune with the venue and making the most out the space inside if the weather takes a turn for the worse, it always helps though when you have a couple who are really happy to try things and go along with your ideas and Louise and Lee were really great clients to work with.  Not only are they a really chilled and relaxed couple, they are super nice too!  It was really good fun taking their bride and groom portraits on the little balcony upstairs and using some of the inside spaces, but the highlight of the portraits was Lee and his groomsmen revealing their secret identities as Marvel comic superheroes – great fun!

One thing I haven’t mentioned yet is the vows during the ceremony, very personal and at times VERY funny!  I had to try very hard not to laugh at some of the things being said, but that really sums up Louise and Lee, fun loving people who invited me in to their personal circle and allowed me to spend their special day with them, and I in turn had a brilliant time.  The best as they say was saved for last though.  The first dance was followed by Lee and a few of the guests performing a dance routine they’d made up to a mash up of popular songs.  It was fantastic!  Not many grooms would dare do something like this, but he most definitely pulled it off.

Many congratulations to Louise and Lee, may you have many many happy years together!
