Sarah & Michael’s wedding – Alnwick Castle wedding photography

Alnwick Castle wedding photography

Sarah and Michael asked me to shoot their Alnwick Castle wedding photography, which in itself would have been pretty amazing, however that wasn’t the full story and their ceremony would in fact be held at Hulne Abbey… I think it’s almost impossible to pick two more stunning settings in which to celebrate such an important event in a couple’s life together.  If you’ve never been to Hulne Abbey it’s part of Alnwick Castle’s vast estate (about 2 miles from the castle) and is an old ruined abbey sat on a hill surrounded by a valley – WOW!  If you’ve never been to Alnwick Castle you’ll probably know it’s Hogwarts from the Harry Potter films – double WOW!  If you know or ever met Sarah and Michael, two wonderfully friendly, kind and very photogenic people you’d probably call this wedding the perfect hat trick… now all we needed was the weather to be nice and sunny – well it sort of was, and it sort of rained cats and dogs at times.  That was pretty cool though as it meant I got to arrange a guard of honour for Sarah arriving in the wedding car.  The groomsmen (who were brilliant and took their roles very seriously) lined up with their umbrellas either side of the entrance as Sarah arrived, followed a few minutes later by glorious sunshine and blue skies – now that’s what I call an entrance!

I was really excited about capturing Sarah and Michael’s Alnwick Castle wedding photography and the ceremony at Hulne Abbey was very touching, plenty of tears were shed and there was a really romantic feeling to the proceedings.  This continued once we arrived at the castle too, with a really lovely atmosphere and the guests and the happy couple celebrating the occasion in amazing surroundings.  Oh and there were a few more tears during the speeches, and laughs… LOTS of laughs, some of the stories are a little too rude to repeat here but trust me there was some pretty good gross out humour in there.

One of the things I love about Sarah and Michael is that they are very laid back, so Sarah’s step dad photobombing the beautiful 1st dance was just another thing to laugh about, and after I left, saw an amazing shot under one of the Castle’s turrets, ran back inside and asked if they fancied one more shot they just said ‘yeah why not’… and what a perfect place for the final shot of the night it turned out to be.

Massive thanks to Sarah & Michael for asking me to be part of their unbelievably beautiful day, I couldn’t have asked for a nicer couple to have worked with on the pre-wedding shoot, the wedding day and in our e-mails since.  I wish you guys so much happiness in your lives ahead.
