Louise & Dave’s Wylam Brewery wedding

Louise & Dave’s Wylam Brewery wedding

What can I say about Louise and Dave’s Wylam Brewery wedding other than it was a day of laughter, smiles and spirit!  An amazing achievement after Louise’s mum sadly passed away only 4 days before the wedding… most couples would have postponed, not these guys, they showed amazing resolve and not only embraced the day and made it a joyful occasion, but pulled everyone up by the boot straps and took them along for the ride.  The day brimmed with happiness and a celebration of love and life.  I take my hat off to these two, truly unique and inspiring people!

What was your favourite part of the wedding?

Our favourite part of the day was seeing each other for the first time in the church and then saying our vows to one another, it was a really emotional and exciting moment for both of us. Unfortunately, my Mum passed away four days before our wedding, there was no question around carrying on with our plans, she was so happy for us and any other option or arrangement would have made her so upset. I knew that she was excited for this particular part of the day and it was at the ceremony when I felt despite the sadness, lifted and loved both by the thought of my Mum and our wonderful family and friends around us.

Were there any personal or DIY touches you added to make the day a little more ‘you’?

We like rich colours, so chose Burgundy and Navy as our core colours. We also like mid century/modern styling and little fuss, so used gold and marble accents in our accessories. We were fortunate that we had David’s best man to help to design our stationary, he created our own L+D logo that subtlety featured throughout the whole of the wedding process from the save the dates through to some of the room décor on the day, it felt like our own little brand!

Why did you choose your venue?

Wylam Brewery was the second (and last) venue that we visited in Newcastle and we pretty much decided we wanted to get married there straight away. We spent a lot of time with our family in the Jesmond area before moving to Manchester in 2012, so the venue is very special and familiar to us. We are also big fans of the Wylam ales and it was so close to the Church; it was an obvious choice.

How did you find using Andy Hudson Photography?

Andy was lovely to have as company on the day, he made us laugh (as evidenced by a lot of the shots) and I felt that he was a friend rather than anything else. Plus, all of our guests loved him!  We couldn’t be happier with everything that Andy created for us!

If you were doing it all again what would be the one bit of advice you’d give yourself at the start of the planning process?

I would definitely recommend the early investment of time to research the suppliers that will give you those long-lasting memories. On a day to day basis we see our beautiful pictures in our home, we can watch our video and enjoy wearing our rings; we are reminded of the promises that we made and the wonderful day we had.
