Rachel & John | Spring wedding at Wylam Brewery

Rachel & John | Spring wedding at Wylam Brewery

This was the first time I’ve had a Spring wedding at Wylam Brewery having always shot here in the summer… guess what?  It’s just as awesome in the spring!  Of course that was mainly down to Rachel and John though, I mean WHAT A WEDDING!!!  Fun, happiness, a touch of romance, beautiful styling, amazing entertainment, brewery tours – this one had it ALL!!!  Such a pleasure to finally have the time to blog a wedding as good as Rachel & John’s!

What was your favourite part of the wedding?

Getting all family and friends under one roof, we really did feel like rock stars for the day! Also probably the bit that I was least looking forward to – the speech, a serene calmness came over me and for once in my life felt everybody was hanging on every word I said!!

What personal or DIY touches did you add to make the day a little more ‘you’?

First dance – As a trained dancer Rachel always dreamed of a ‘proper’ dance with her Dad (Allan) and myself (Groom).  Allan and I put the hard yards in every Thursday night. In our minds we can now audition for Strictly. Our feet however, disagree!

One of the first bookings we made was for the evening band. On an early trip away we saw the Jersey Boys. We couldn’t book them, but we sourced the best alternative act going, ‘Frankie’s Guys’. All ages loved them – they even got John up on stage for a sing and a dance!!

Why did you choose your venue?

Rach wanted ‘bricks and parquet flooring’. We got that! What sealed it was the Gin Bar!  Seriously though, with having as spring wedding we couldn’t trust the British weather (although we got very lucky) – Wylam Brewery can house everything under one roof.

How did you find using Andy Hudson Photography?

We really couldn’t be any happier with Andy.  Firstly, what a lovely guy! There must be some pressure to get those shots that we as couples will remember all of our lives, but he does it with such enjoyment!  The way he interacts with the guests; sounds daft but he becomes a guest, interacting with everybody.

The end result – totally blown away by all our pics. We seriously had a job on our hands narrowing them down for the album. Even now, we look at them and just smile. We’ve even got a shrine to our special day in our hallway!

If you were doing it all again what would be the one bit of advice you’d give yourself at the start of the planning process?

Enjoy every second of it – including the planning. You’re only going to do it once!
